Season 1 premiered on April 15, 2013. Defiance is an American science fiction television series distributed by the American cable television channel Syfy. The series was developed for television by Rockne S. O'Bannon, Kevin Murphy, and Michael Taylor. The first season was shot in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[1]

Production for the pilot began in April 2012,[2] and on May 10, 2013, Syfy renewed Defiance for a second season.[3] The first season will be released on region 2 DVD and region free Blu-ray on July 15, 2013.[4][5]

As they unravel the mystery of his past, Nolan, Yewll and Rafe uncover a history of bizarre biological experiments during the war. Meanwhile, Amanda gets an offer to come work for the E-Rep, and a chance to rekindle a relationship with an old flame.[13]

A mysterious plague strikes Defiance, carried by Irathients, but affecting only humans. Fear and paranoia cause the Irathients to be sent into quarantine in the mines. Meanwhile, Amanda reconnects with an old flame from the Earth Republic, Datak uses the plague as an opportunity to seize legitimate power in town, and Quentin questions Nicky about what really happened to his mother.[14]

The town of Defiance is shocked when the body of Hunter Bell, a prominent businessman who disappeared almost six years ago, is discovered hidden at the NeedWant. Nolan and Tommy spearhead an investigation that unearths the secrets of many citizens of Defiance, causing unrest on the eve of Alak and Christie’s wedding.[15]
11 Past Is Prologue July 1, 2013
On the eve of the election, Nolan is involved in an accident that makes the town question Amanda's decision to appoint Nolan as lawkeeper, and threatens Amanda's own mayoral campaign.[16]
12 Everything Is Broken July 8, 2013[17]
As citizens of Defiance cast their votes for Mayor, Amanda and Datak find themselves locked in a bitter struggle. Nolan is violently confronted with his past. And Irisa must decide whether or not to embrace her destiny.[18]
