Stahma Tarr is a main character in the first and second[1] seasons. She is portrayed by Jaime Murray, and makes her debut in the series premiere.
Stahma is a female Castithan from the Shanje liro, the wife of Datak Tarr, and the mother of Alak Tarr.
Biography[]
Background[]
The wife of Datak Tarr, one of the most powerful men in Defiance, Stahma is beautiful and loyal, the perfect picture of a Castithan wife. Beneath the surface, however, lies a dark side that is ready to break from the traditional roles assigned her by her caste.[2]
Having met Datak during her voyage on an Ark, Stahma aided him in his business during the Pale Wars. When the fighting ended, the two found themselves among a group of migrant settlers and eventually settled in Defiance. There, Stahma plays the part of the dutiful wife while secretly harboring her own ambitions.[2]

Behind the scenes[]
- Jaime Murray's make up as Stahma is modified for every different lightning situation.[3]
- Jaime is inspired by proud, watchful, graceful and deadly animals like snakes and cats when forming Stahma's physicality. She uses reptiles when filming a scene where Stahma appears cold or trying to control her anger, and cats when she's feeling affectionate and sensual.[4]
